ORDINANCE No. 331

 

ORDINANCE AMEDNING THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE CITY OF PRINCETON

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Princeton, Iowa as follows:

155.01             Building Codes Adopted ─ Copies on File.

Pursuant to published notice and adoption of ordinance, as required by law, the 2012 IBC, IRC, UPC; the 2012 UMC, IFC, IECC; the 2012 IEBC, IFGC; and the 2014 NEC Code is adopted in full with the exception of the residential sprinkler Code IBC 903.2.8 Group R: An automatic sprinkler system installed in accordance with IBC Section 903.3 shall be provided throughout all buildings with a Group R fire area and with any other exceptions, additions, or deletions adopted elsewhere in this code. The Codes, as published by the International Conference of Building Officials, is hereby adopted by reference. An official copy of the Codes, as adopted, and a certified copy of the ordinance codified in this section, is on file in the office of the City Clerk. In the event a portion of this chapter specifically conflicts with the provisions of the established Code, the provisions of this chapter shall govern.

155.04             Building Valuation Data. (Residential/Commercial) 

For the purposes of determining the valuations of buildings and improvements thereto for building permit fees, the following values per square foot shall be multiplied by the total square feet of the building or improvement thereto for residential and commercial buildings. 

A. House/Commercial

 

1. Wood frame construction

2. Brick veneer construction                                                                          

$65.00/SqFt.

3. Steel Construction

$55.00/SqFt.

4. If basement is finished,                                                                               

add $10.00 per additional square foot.

5. If second floor,                                                                                          

add $25.00 per additional square foot.

1. Same value per square foot as for houses in paragraph “A”.

SECTION 2. REPEALER CLAUSE. Any ordinance, provision or part thereof, which differs or is inconsistent with this ordinance is hereby repealed, to the extent of said difference or inconsistency.

SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. If any section, provision or part of this Ordinance shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional

SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance shall be in effect following final passage, approval, and publication of this ordinance as required by law.
